Introduction
One thread, many chapters
Curiosity is the common thread connecting my work in venture capital, healthcare, filmmaking, aviation, conservation, and global exploration. Each chapter has given me a different lens through which to understand people, possibility, and the responsibility that comes with building something meaningful.
I have never seen those chapters as a résumé or a collection of titles. What matters are the experiences they made possible: the conversations that changed my mind, the people who widened my perspective, and the lessons that continue to shape how I think, learn, and form meaningful relationships.
Language has been an important part of that global perspective. I am fluent in Arabic, with business fluency in Mandarin and Japanese—each offering another way to listen closely, understand across cultures, and build relationships grounded in genuine connection.
The Journey
Working closely with people taught me that meaningful progress begins with empathy. It requires careful listening, patience, and a willingness to understand the realities behind the problem. Healthcare made the stakes of building unmistakably human: the best solutions do more than perform—they improve lives.
Investing became a natural extension of curiosity: a way to learn from exceptional founders, discover transformative technologies, and support ambitious people building the future. Every company is an invitation to understand a new world—and every founder offers a distinct lesson in conviction, resilience, and imagination.
Film and television are another form of building. They begin with an idea, gather people around a shared vision, and create something capable of connecting strangers through story. Creative work has deepened my appreciation for perspective, collaboration, and the emotional truths that help us recognize one another.
Flying teaches discipline, preparation, humility, responsibility, and freedom in equal measure. It rewards clear thinking and respect for forces larger than ourselves. It has also created opportunities to serve—through rescue flights—and to explore the world from a perspective that makes familiar landscapes feel new again.
Travel has broadened my perspective by placing me among different cultures, landscapes, and ways of thinking. The most memorable journeys are rarely defined by distance alone; they are shaped by encounters that challenge assumptions and invite a more expansive view. Every journey reinforces the value of curiosity and lifelong learning.
